MD Journal, a scientific magazine for open access design promoted by the Laboratorio Material Design belonging to the Architecture Faculty of the University of Ferrara, in its January 2019 issue proposes to its readers an article captioned “From scrap to value - “When hidden vocations are born from stone scraps”.
The article was written by Laura Badalucco and Luca Casarotto and it depicts real cases of companies working in the stone field and it explains how it is possible to optimize the manufacturing, prevent the production of scraps and above all, how design can contribute to returning value to items that are considered a “waste” of the production process.
MASUTTI MARMI & GRANITI S.R.L. (a company of the CESAF group) is included among the cases reported. A new collection of wall clads named the MASUTTI+ line was conceived and created thanks to the cooperation between the company and the university spin-off New Design Vision following a research period aiming at reducing the manufacturing wastes and at adding value to the corporate know-how and to the internal productive process.
