DRONE SURVEYS FOR THER PROJECT FINANCING WITH THE METROPOLITAN CITY OF MILAN: IT IS NOT AN EVERYDAY BUSINESS...
Constructing telecommunication sites has always been “our business”.
We have done this for over 20 years and from then to now, many techniques and technologies experienced changes, renewals and innovations. With view to providing the final Client a professional, trustworthy and precise service it is essential to keep up with the times and CESAF does not step back on this kind of stuff!
For this reason, to evaluate and validate the candidates proposed by the Metropolitan City of Milan as future RBS, we relied on the Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems - commonly referred to as drones - to do the altitude surveys and see contingent obstacles.
Up to a few years ago, the use of drones was only dedicated to entertainment or military purposes but now it is possible to use these innovative systems in different fields - like the one we work in - to obtain extremely precise results, in complete safety and in very short times. Also, one cannot underestimate the issue related to the difficulties in reaching urban areas with traditional transportation means (aerial platforms, spider cranes, etc.) as they need time for their positioning and rental costs as well as a quite complicated bureaucratic procedure to request the permits to occupy the public land.
In fact, please note that in just above 4 working months CESAF completed almost 76 surveys in the height and the execution of this type of activity in the traditional manners required more than 15 working days.
Also, the use of a drone will be useful in the design phase as it allows to take note of obstacles at the antenna level and in the surrounding area of the antenna structure. This allows taking not in a very specific manner - for example - of connection points to the power network, buildings, and areas subject to constraints, etc.
In short: our company decided to use this cutting-edge instrument as it is fast, precise and safe and all these topics are our top priority.
